Established in 1994, the Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIIT-G) is one of the leading institutes of information technology in India. The institute offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the field of Information Technology.
The 2022 NIRF ranking of IIITG is #112 in the engineering category. In 2021, it was ranked at #73 while in 2020, it was ranked at #66. Though the NIRF ranking of this institute has gone down this year, it's the only IIIT running in PPP (Public-Private Partnership) mode that made it to the Top 200 Engineering Colleges of India. It has also been ranked as the best IIIT in India by several magazines and portals.
Its main downside is the student-faculty ratio but the overall quality of education is really good. With a 67-acre campus, IIIT Guwahati is easily accessible. It is situated on the National Highway and is just 4 km from Guwahati airport. The campus houses a 500-seater boys' hostel and a 100-seater girls' hostel. It offers courses in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Sciences.
