Horizontal distance moved by the projectile is called the ‘Range’ of a projectile.
Since, there is no acceleration in the horizontal direction, the distance (here also displacement) covered will be
Horizontal velocity X time taken
 
Horizontal velocity= ucos(theta)
time taken for the projectile= 2usin(theta)/g
angle of projection=theta
Range= R
R= 2u2sin(theta)cos(theta)/g
R= u2sin[2(theta)]/g          ….… 2sin(theta)cos(theta)= sin[2(theta)]
