The theory of continuity of germplasm was proposed by
4 August Weismann
According to this theory multicellular organisms consist of germcells that carry genes from parents to progeny and somatic cells that carry out body functions. So this theory stated that characters from parents to offsprings are carried by germ cells that comprise of sperms in male and eggs in female.
