A pigment leghaemoglobin is present in the root nodules, which is a oxygen scavenger, i,e., it protects the enzyme nitrogenase from oxygen. Nitrogenase enzyme complex consists of two components, i,e,. th eFeProtein and Mo – Fe Protein.
