Most of the life cycle ofPlasmodiumis spent in the haploid state (having only one set of chromosomes).Plasmodium exists in the diploid state (having two copies of each chromosome) just long enough to invade a mosquito's gut and produce a new generation of haploid cells. So yes its true that it follows haplontic life cycle
