Agglutination is defined as the formation of clumps of cells. The most common agglutination is seen in blood typing. The agglutination indicates that the blood has reacted with a certain antibody and is therefore not compatible with blood containing that kind of antibody. If the blood does not agglutinate, it indicates that the blood does not have the antigens binding the special antibody.

Points to remember:

A person having A+ blood group will have A and Rh antigen on his RBCs. His serum will containantibodies against B Blood group.

A person having B+ blood group will have B and Rh antigen on his RBCs. His serum will containantibodies against A Blood group.

Similarly AB+ will have A, B, Rh antigen on his RBC and no antibody in his serum. thus universal acceptor.

A person having O+ blood group will have only Rh antigen on his RBC. His serum will contain antibody against A and B Blood group.
