See attachment , answer is diencephalon. Can anyone explain how. Somesthetic area of parietal lobe is involved in sensation of pain , touch , temperature. Is diencephalon is also involved?

The diencephalon consists of a part called "Thalamus" ,this part takes care of Relaying sensory and motor functions to the cerebrum.
Hence,the diencephalon takes the largest damage when you go through a lot of pain.
