Interferons are antiviral protein by virus infecter cells. It is released from the infected cells and make the nearby ;uninfected cells more resistant to the viral infection.

When a virus attacks a cell then that virus infected cell secretes non antibody proteins called interferons to protect the non-infected cells from the attack of further viral infection and also acts as the intercellular mediators in the form of antigen that produce the immune system.
