prokaryotic, as well as eukaryotic, organisms that reside in the large intestine.

The human intestine contains many bacterial species, some of which play very important protective and metabolic role for our body. 
 The main type of bacteria present in colon are obligate anaerobes.
Some of the bacteria present are. E.coli (synthesises vit B12) , Lactobacillus sp., eubacteriam sp., anaerobic gram positive sp. Propinobacterium, etc.
