n ncert its states that 'however some of the substance like fructose and some amino acids are absorbed with the help of carrier ions like na+ and this mechanism is called facilitated transport. but for cbse pmt 2010 the answer given was na+ facilitate the absorption of amino acid and glucose.. what is the reason for that

Mistake :Fructose is absorbed with the help of the carrier ions like Na+ . (pg. 264, NCERT XI).
Corrected To: Substances are absorbed with the help of the carrier ions like Na+ .They have deleted the statement that Fructose is absorbed with the help of the carrier ions like Na+ .

Fructose transport does not occur by the sodium cotransport mechanism. It is transported by facilitated diffusion but not coupled with sodium transport.

The passage of both the glucose and thegalactose, chemically very similar, is mediated by a transporter called SGLT1, acronym ofSodium-dependentGLucose coTransporter 1, which carries out the co-transport of one molecule of glucose/galactosetogether with two sodium ions .

Fructosechemically different from glucose andgalactose, enters into the cells by facilitated diffusion, also called passive transport (no energy expenditure) thank to thetransporter GLUT5(acronym ofGLucoseTransporter type 5).
