Heterochromatin is darkly stained, & relatively more condensed. It is not transcribed so we can say it is genetically inactive. It is visible during interphase of all cells. Heterochromatic DNA is not transcribed, but itisreplicated Eg of heterochromatin are centromeres of chromosomes.
Whereas regions of chromatin where active transcription takes place are calledeuchromatin and this type is lightly stained.
