in biotechnology instead of cutting the restriction site at plasmid and ligating some other gene in case of suppressing the gene of plasmid ,we can just cut the unwanted gene and ligate the ends.why is this not used?

After the mentioned processes Plasmid length and number of base pairs has to be the same like the before.
If not the Plasmid does not existand does’nt perform its normal functions like transcriotion and expression of genes.
