Hello Student,
Theory of spontaneous generatiion states that a particular organism could be generated from sources other than its own egg and the source of generation may be even some non living thing. Louis Pasteur defied the idea and proved it wrong through an experiment. He boiled a meat broth in a flask with a long neck that was curved at an end. Idea of using such flask was that air could pass it but any contaminants from air could not enter the flask. It was observed that no growth occured in broth in such conditions but when flask was turned such that some particles from air could fall in browth, there was heavy growth in broth. This suggested that living organisms can not generate by themselves in any media unless any spore of it comes from air thus highly disapproving theory of spontaneous generation.
