Alu I is obtained from Arthrobacter luteus which recognises the sequence AGCT.
Restriction endonuclease enzyme is extracted from Alu and acts at the centre of a palindromic tetranucleotide sequence to give even-ended duplex DNA fragments phosphorylated at the 5'-end.
