Total carbon dioxide in venous blood is 52 ml per 100 ml and in arterial blood 48 mlper 100 ml. ... and the haematocrit of venous blood is some 3% more than arterial blood. The plasma concentration of chloride ion is lower but bicarbonate ion concentration is greater.
