because of difference in speed of red,violet,etc components of light
as u is inversely proportional to wavelenght

I assume you mean dispersion of white light through a glass prism.

This is because white light is a combination of waves of different wavelengths spanning the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum , and the fact that  the  refractive index value of glass is not a constant number, but varies as a function of the wavelength of the incident beam of light. The variation isn't much, but it is nevertheless present.
