Unpolarise light of intensity I o is incident on a polaroid P 1 which is kept near any other polaroid P 2 whose pass axis is parallel to tjat of P 1 .How will the intensities of light, I 1 and I 2 , transmitted by the polaroid P 1 and P 2 respectively, change on rotating P 1 without disturbing P 2 .

POLARIZATION OF EM WAVE MEANS DIRECTION OF ELECTRIC FIELD IN WAVE--
INTENSITY IS DIRECTLY proportional TO SEQURE OF ELECTRIC FIELD VECTOR
WHEN FIRST POLAROID IS ROTATED BY AN ANGLE (A) ELECTRIC FIELD THAT PASS THROUGH POLAROID CONTAIN ONLY A SINGLE COMPONENT OF IT . SO INTENSITY BECOME
I1 = I0 COS2A
SIMILARY WE CAN SOLVE FOR SECOND POLAROID
