colour and energy is dependent on frequency. we perceive different frequencies as different colours. sometimes the frequencies are too close, that we cannot distinguish the colours , that is why usually a range of frequencies is said to be of a particular colour ( eg- red).

energy is a direct function of frequency. E=hv, so energy also remains constant when travelling through different mediums . only thing that changes is the speed of light. wavelength changes to accommodate the change in speed.
