A cubical block of glass of refractive index n1 is in contact with the surface of water of refractive index n2. A beam of light is incident on vertical face of block. After rrefraction, a total internal reflection at the base and refraction at the opposite vertical face, the ray emerges out at an angle (a) .The valve of (a) is given by?

Dear Rhitvik

According to the figure
sin i / sin theta = 1 / n1
For total internal reflection

cos i = n2 /n1

sin theta = sqrt (n1^2 – n2^2)

a = sin^-1[sqrt (n1^2 – n2^2)]
