A wave is a disturbance in a medium which carries energy from one point to another.The waves carry the energy by using the vibrations of particles in the medium. The particles vibrate while the waves propagate.Waves are basically classified into two types namely progressive waves and stationary waves.Progressive waves are again classified as transverse waves and longitudinal waves.Stationary waves are also of two types: transverse stationary waves and longitudinal stationary waves.
