There is a change in the path of light when there is a change in media (due to diff in optical density ) , this deflection is called refraction

REFRACTION simply means DEVIATION. In brief when a particle or rays passes through one medium to another medium then it's path is simply deviate from some angle(remember that angle will not be equal to incident angle) , this is called REFRACTION.
