put "u" as+ve and "f" -ve in the mirror formula (1/v + 1/u = 1/f) to get "v" as -ve. So it can only form real image for virtual object.
1. Virual object is the object from which light rays don't actuaaly originate but they seem to be coming from that object . If we keep the object at the reflecting surface of a mirror than it will become a virtual object.
Yes, a virual object can exist independently without a real object.
