Scattering of Light:- When a light travell through the atmosphere then it gets scattered from the air molecules. Hence scattering of light takes place when the size of the scattering object is very-2 small as compared to wavelength of light. The amout of scattering suffered by different wavelength of light is different. The intensity of particular wavelength in the scattered light depends greatly on its wavelength.

For Example:-

Red light is used in danger signals:The light used in the danger signal should not get scattered by large amount when it is passed through the atmosphere.Since the red colour is scattered through a small amount due to its larger wavelength.Hence the danger signals make use of red light.

The clouds r generally white: Larger particles like dust and water drops present in the atmosphere donot scatter light acc. 2 Rayleigh's Law of Scattering. The dust particles and water drops scatter light of all colours almost equally.Hence clouds r white in colour.
