Why sound more fast travel in solid than gas or liquid but ina gas parti les are more freely to move why???

propagation of sound is facilitated by the collisions between particles. And the distances between molecules in solids are very small. Because they are so close, than can collide very quickly, i.e. it takes less time for a molecule to transport sound wave more fastly. The above mentioned statement is most accurate and simple explanation to your question. Pkease do approve my answer if feel satisfied

V=E/density and density of solid>liquid>gas but E {modulus of elasticity} solid>>>>liquid>> gas so sound travels fast in solidDo approve it is the correct explaination.. regards radha
