The loss in amplitude in a harmonic motion of an oscillating object is called damping and the motion is called damped harmonic motion. There are many causes of damping, including friction, air resistance, and internal forces. To reduce the undesired amplitude of vibration or oscillation, the damping devices are often used on machinery which results the moving part of the machine slows down. The use of spring in an automobile shocks which reduces the effect over a bump
