Two periodic wave of amplitude a and b pass through a region at the same time in the same direction .If a>b the difference in the maximum and minmum possible amplitude is 1)a+b 2)a+-b 3) 2a 4)2b

Maximum distance = a + b   I.e,  it is a Constructive Superposition                    minimum distance  = a – b  I.e, it is a  Destructive  Superposition
Therefore, difference between maximum  and minimum distance is  a + b-(a – b)  =2b
