Dear Student

“A progressive wavehas the amplitude equal, over all the points, has net energy flow"

"A standing waveis formed when two identical waves traveling in opposite directions meet and superimpose on each other. This usually happens when one wave is the reflection of the other. It has no net flow of energy"

PROGRESSIVE OR TRAVELLING WAVE:
IF A WAVE THAT PROPAGATES IN A MEDIUM IS CONTINUOUS THEN IT IS PROGRESSIVE WAVE
 STANDING OR STATIONARY WAVES:
IT IS A WAVE THAT OSCILLATES IN TIME BUT WHOSE  PEEK AMPLITUDE  DOES NOT MOVE
