How can I prove that intensity of a wave is directly proportional to the square of amplitude?

Intensity is Average power transmitted across unit crossectional Area...

I = PA (ds/dt) /A       ..........work done

s = s0 sin w(t - x/v)

p = p0 cos w(t - x/v)

put the value of P & s in the above equation and take average in one cycle you will get
