As we know,the expression for the displacement of air molecules in logitudinal waves is not the same as expression for normal shm motion.bt the air molecules also osclillate in shm.so why the expressions r not the same?

The individual air molecules themselves always exhibit at least a minimum rate of motion without causing perceptible pressure changes.
