Transvers and Longitudinal waves both. Just concentrate on the boat motion. A propeller is used to draw the water back. So a longitudinal wave is generated <------>
Again it goes laterally deep in to water, causing transverse wave ~~~~~~. Hope this will be clear by now.

Because transverse waves are generated on the surface of water. Inside the water, longitudinal waves are produced due to the vibrations of the rudder.
