tell me how the waves were travelling?who discoverd the wave motion and how

 

waves as you know are of two types.

in one of them the movement is upside down and in other case it is sideways.

the reason why they trvel as they do is the direction of force and one peculiar property of force that it is directly proportional to the displacement of particles.

wave motion was discovered by someone unknown who used to observe water waves all the time
