Dear student,

$\dpi{80} \vec{a}\times \vec{j}$is perpendicular to. Hence their dot product will be zero.

The product reduces to$\dpi{80} (\vec{a}\times \vec{j}).(-3\hat{k})=-3\vec{k}.(\vec{a}\times \vec{j})=-3(\vec{a}.\vec{i})=-12$
