A scalar is a physical amount that has just greatness (Magnitude).

For instance, a man purchases a tub of margarine which is named with a mass of 500 g. The mass of the tub of margarine is a scalar amount. It just needs one number to depict it, for this situation, 500 g.

Vectors are distinctive in light of the fact that they are physical amounts which have a size and a bearing. A vector reveals to you the amount of something there is and which bearing it is in.

A vector is a physical amount that has both greatness and heading.

For instance, an auto is voyaging east along a turnpike at 100 km·h−1. What we have here is a vector called the speed. The auto is moving at 100 km·h−1(this is the greatness) and we know where it is going – east (this is the heading). These two amounts, the speed and course of the auto, (a greatness and a bearing) together frame a vector we call speed.
