Dear Mohit

In 2 dimensional system we can resolve a vector quantitiy in two perpendicular directions extending it to a vector quantity in space we can resolve it in 3 mutualy perpendicular directions as it is sufficient to represent any point in space with 3 coordinates namely X, Y and Z. so we have 3 components.
