let the new coeficient of linear expansion be k.α 
let the temp is increased and change in temp. be T 
sum of individual expansion of two rod = expansion of combined rod ..
lαT(1+4)=3.x.l.T.α => x= 5/3  so new coefficient of linear expansion is 5/3α.
