Yes it is possible for two objects in a closed system will come into thermal equilibrium with each other if they are in thermal contact. The key element of thermal contact is that two systems are able to exchange energy in some way, so as to allow both systems to randomly sample all possible states with equal probability, subject to the total amount of energy in both objects being constant.
