Change in internal energy = 0
AS internal energy only consists of unordered motion not ordered motion of the body, which it will get when bullet enters and block starts to move.

u = 40 m/s
v = 0 m/s
Change in internal energy = Change in kinetic energy = |KEfinal – KEinitial |
= | 0 – ½ * 0.02 * 402 |
= 16 J
