Dear friend image is totally clear ,they are just making excuses.
The correct answer is option 4. In first case positive work is done
In 2 case negative work is done . and in 3 case w=0.
As we know Q=U+W
Heat capacity of case 1 will be more than 3
Heat capacity in case 2 will be less than case 3 .
