We are able to squeeze snow and make balls out of it because of

i) anomalous nature of water

ii) large latent heat of ice

iii) large specific heat of water

iv) low melting point of ice

The answer is because of the large latent heat of ice.The temperature difference provided by our hands is not enough to melt the ice because of the large latent heat of ice.
