The absolute value of internal energy of a system cannot be determined. This is because internal energy it is the sum of various types of energies of energies of a system which cannot be calculated. We can however calculate the change in internal energy as the system undergoes a process.

As internal energy is the sum of many energies, of which exact values can’t be determined, but the change in internal energy can be calculated in different ways.
