Because medicines can cause harm to human body if a person does not know its physiological function on body.

Medicines should not be taken without consulting a doctor due to.
1. Different people have different sensitivity and reception capacity. Same amount of medicine can do good to one and harm to the other person.
2. Medicines can have side effects which a common person would not know.
3. Medicine can bibd to different receptors.
4. Also if taken with any other medicine then it can have harmful reactions.
5. People having a history of some disease may get harmful effect of some drugs.
The doctors know well about all these things and prescribe medicine on the basis of history, sensitivity and the other medicine that a person is taking.

Medicines should not be taken without consulting doctors because medicins can bind more than one receptor sites. So, it may be toxic for some receptors site. Also if we take medicine dose higher than recommended then it causes a harmful effect on our body and also leads to person death.
