Why is cathode always called negatively charged electrode? It does not acquire negative charge unless connected to the negative terminal of the battery. Why is it connected to negative terminal?
Cathode is called the negatively charged electrode always because at Anode always oxidation reaction takes place and at Cathode thus, always Reduction process takes place. Thus gaining and loosing the elctrons derive the elctrodes as cathode and anodeas negtive and positive respectively.
