Beryllium has 4 electrons in 1s and 2s orbitals  and for ionisation electron needs to be removed from 2p orbital while as Boron has 5 electrons in 1s, 2s and  2p orbitals and for ionisation electon has to come out from 2p..Since effective nuclear charge is more on 2s than 2p,,thus ionisation energy is more for 2s   than 2p..this is the reason why first ionisation energy of Be is more than Boron
