The electronegativity difference between Al and Cl isn't large enough to support ionic behaviour. So a covalent character exists in this compound. Thus AlCl3(option B) has covalent bonds.

HELLO THERE!

Resonance: The hypothetical phenomenon due to which there is a delocalization of pi-electron cloud in an organic compound, is called as Resonance. Resonance stabilizes any structure greatly, be it a carbocation, or carbanion, or any aromatic compound.
Whenever you get any question regarding stability determination, resonance plays an important role.

Second question: According to Fajan’s rule, when the size of cation is too small, and that of the anion is large, Polarisation occurs, due to which the electron cloud of the anion is attracted by the cation, but at the same time, the positively charged nucleus of the anion experiences a repulsive force from the cation. Hence, there is a distortion in the shape of the anion, and the compound develops a Covalent Character.

When you compare the sizes of the cations present in the above compound, size of Al3+ 2+ +. This is because, greater is the positive charge on the cation, greater is the nuclear pull and hence the atomic size decreases. Also, MgCl2, NaH, and Na2S have ionic bonds because Na and Mg are strong metals (members of Group 1 and 2). However, in AlCl3, due to polarization, by Fajan’s rule, it has covalent character.

Thanks!
