Whenever white light is passed through the prism which is composed of seven colours, they get splitted into individual ones and this phenomenon is called as dispersion. It is found that these separated colours appear in the form of bands and formed an spectrum. It is found that though bands are observed but all bands of seven colours are continous and the band of other colour is formed just behind the previous one and the same are the cases of bands of other colours.Due to this we found that bands look like merging in each other and there is overlapping of bands of all the colours. Thus we can say that bands are not separated individually with gaps in between them.In fact we will observed no gapping between them and continous bands of all the seven colours.Though on observing these bands we can identify that band is actually belongs to which colour. So it is called that colours are so continous that they merges into each other without any gap.
