Beta decay is a of the type of radioative decay is. In this process a neutron inside a nucleus breaks up into an electron and proton. The β-particle is actually an electron. Emission ofβ-rays (flow of electron) involves a huge amount of energy.
In some reactions positron is emitted which is similar to electron in mass and size but has a positive charge
