Detergentsare ammonium or suphonate salts of long chained carboxylic or fatty acids. They are better than Soaps as detergents lather well with hard water as soft water.
These are classified into following four groups

  • Anionic Detergents

  • Cationic Detergents

  • Nonionic Detergents

  • Amphoteric Detergents
