The equation for the reduction potential of hydrogen half cell
2H+ + 2e- --------->H2
E=E0 -.059/nlog p(H2)/[H+]^2
E0 is the standard reduction potential for hydrogen it is 0
Therefore for E to be negative log quantity should be positive .It would be positive when p(H2)>H+^2
