The structure of AgI is based on the bcc array of I- ions. Here I- ion in the array is surrounded by eight equidistant I- ions. The structure is also explained in terms of space-filling truncated octahedron.
The Ag+ ions have been moving through the lattice also described at molten sublattice of Ag+ ions.
Co-ordination number of AgI =6.
The structure is FCC and r+ and r- is 126 / 216 = 0.58
