NO3-  ---------->NH2OH
N5+ ------------>N^-1
Oxidation number of N in (oxidised state) NO3- =5+
Oxidation number of N in (reduced state) NH2OH= -1
Number of e- = (oxidation no. in oxidised state --                                   Oxidation no. in reduced state)
Number of e- = 5 - (- 1) = 5+1= 6
So answer is 6.
